4th May, Week 2, Term 2
From Our Principal - Mr Brendan Moloney
Dear Families,
This week we celebrate Catholic Schools Week, this year’s theme “Living our Mission’’ highlights the mission of Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lismore. The Catholic school community has a co-responsibility in the service of mission through sharing Jesus’ messages of love and forgiveness, peace, hope and joy as revealed in the Gospels. The transforming power of mission ensures our students experience the fullness of life (John 10:10).
Our school joined with more than 620 Catholic schools across NSW and the ACT to celebrate the annual Catholic Schools Week (CSW). In our Lismore Diocese we have 45 schools with 2500 staff and an estimated 18,000 students.
On Tuesday we had a fantastic celebration for Catholic Schools Week. We had a number of our families, parishioners and community groups come together to share in celebrations which included Mass, the completion of our mural, morning tea, songs and classroom visits. We would like to thank all those that were able to join us for this event.
Fridge
We have had this fridge donated to us to provide to someone who is in need of it. If you or someone you know is in need of a fridge please come and see us.
Bike
We have had this bike that has been left at school for sometime now and we are trying to find the owner. If it belongs to you please come and collect it or we will offer it as a donation.
Tell Them From Me Survey
In the coming weeks we will be inviting students, teachers and parents to provide feedback on their experience of our school using an online survey. The surveys are an important part of our whole school evaluation and planning process.
We would like to invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St. Joseph’s Primary, Coraki.
The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You are able to access the parent survey on your computer or mobile device, the URL to use to access the survey will be sent to you via COMPASS.
God Bless,
Brendan Moloney

Mission News
Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A
The readings for the last few Sundays have been about the Resurrection, but today’s Gospel takes us back in time to an event in Jesus’ life before his Passion. Jesus tells his disciples that he is going to prepare a place for them in his Father’s house. He promises that where he is going, his disciples will be able to follow. Thomas, who will later doubt the disciples’ reports that they have seen the Risen Lord, contradicts Jesus by saying that the disciples don’t know where Jesus is going or how to get there. Jesus explains that he himself is the way, the truth, and the life. In knowing and loving Jesus, the disciples now love God the Father.
Catholic Schools Week Celebration
Our Catholic Schools Week celebration was held on Tuesday. The students participated reverently and respectfully in the Mass and it was delightful to see our guests. We are especially thankful for the representatives who joined us from the Presentation Sisters. Two of the guests were in fact staff members here! Thankyou Sr Ann, Sr Margaret and Sr Mary for joining us!

The Sacrament will be held on Monday June 26th at 6pm. The Sacrament is held as a Parish and this year will be celebrated at Evans Head. Zone Cross Country
Ten students represented St Joey's today at the Richmond Zone Cross Country which was held at Hepburn Park in Goonellabah. The 9 and 10 year olds ran 2 kilometres and the 11 and 12 year olds ran 3 kilometres against competitors from the 9 schools in the Richmond Zone. Unlike our own Cross Country the track was dry and hard and the day was hot making the event even harder than it normally would be. All students competed well, giving their very best in their races and representing our school proudly. Unfortunately none of the students qualified to compete at Diocesan level, however we were very pleased with their efforts today.Congratulations to: Ruby Charters, Riley Grande, Charlie Hill, Angel O'Rourke, Ellie Powell, Blake Charters, Oscar Hippi, Philippa Maher, Noah Moran and Charlee O'Rourke.
Early Stage 1/Stage 1 Coraki Muesum Visit
Wednesday, 3rd of May the Infant classes attended an excursion to the Coraki Museum. During Term 2 the children will be learning about objects from the past and why they are important to us.
The children were taken on a history treasure hunt as they toured the exhibits. From typewriters, soldier uniforms, milk churns, water pumps to old farming machinery, we were immersed in Coraki's past.
I encourage families to visit this inexpensive, local learning resource.
They had a lot of cool stuff and they had a little treasure hunt. And we saw the old, big machines. Lindsay.
