7th September, Week 8, Term 3
From Our Principal - Mr Brendan Moloney
Dear Families,
This weekend we have three of our students who will be receiving their First Eucharist at our weekend Parish Mass. This takes place at 9.15am Sunday. We invite families to join us for this special occasion as Saoirse, Paige and Philippa complete this sacrament. There will be a cup of tea and cake following the celebration.
Retirement Village Visit
Yesterday our Stage 2 students had the opportunity to visit the Retirement Village. We have been unable to do this for an extended period of time but we are now able to undertake this community service. As part of the visit students sit with the residents and join in with a Bingo game. Many residents may not have visitors and previous experience has shown that they love visits from our students.
Fire Safety Day
As we look forward to summer and the fire season we have all heard of the concern from fire services for the conditions that lay ahead. Families are encouraged to review their fire safety plans in the case of a fire emergency. As a school community we are currently reviewing our own emergency plans in preparation for the season ahead.
On the last of this term we will be holding a Fire Safety Day at school. Each class will undertake fire safety activites and we will visit the local station as part of the activities. We will provide more details of the day closer to the event.
2024 Enrolments / Jun. Joey’s
During Term 3 we have begun our Jun. Joey’s Transition Program. This will resume again in Term 4 Friday the 20th October (Week 2). This is an important program to support the transition of students to Kindergarten and provides the opportunity for them to start to build relationships with school staff and be familiar with the school environment and routines. Any families looking to enrol in Kindergarten for 2024 need to contact the school office to collect their enrolment pack. Enrolment forms need to be completed prior to the start of our Jun. Joey’s Program. Parents are also encouraged to join us for the program.
We ask families to please pass on this opportunity to anyone you may know who is considering St. Joseph’s as an excellent educational choice for their family.
God Bless,
Brendan Moloney

Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
In this week’s Gospel Jesus outlines a plan of action on how to handle conflicts. When someone hurts us, often our first response is to hurt that person back. If we follow this impulse, we will likely make the situation worse and perhaps even destroy our relationship with that person.
Jesus offers some very practical advice: Try to talk with the person first. If there is too much anger or tension that makes talking impossible, seek the advice of another good person who is not directly involved and who cares about both of you. This person may be able to help you both see beyond the anger of the moment to the deeper relationship that exists between the two of you. If you have done all that you can, exhausting all the means available to reconcile, and the other person refuses to make peace, it may be necessary to step away and ro pray for that person. Perhaps that person is not ready or is not able to see fault.
(From Celebrating the lectionary Year A)
Prayer Lord Jesus Christ, you said to the Apostles, "Come, follow me." You say the same words to us, today and every day. Help us to follow you faithfully: to walk in the way of your commandments, to help those who are struggling, and to love all people as you love them. May we rejoice in your presence with us as we work to build up the Kingdom of God, where you live and reign with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. |
