From Our Principal - Mr Brendan Moloney

    Dear Families,

    Term 3 Leave

During Term 3 this year I will be taking Long Service Leave for the first 8 weeks of the Term, I will be travelling with family heading north and then travelling the west coast. We are leaving on Friday the 5th of July and plan to return to work on Monday 16th Septemeber.

Next week I will be able to confirm who will be the Acting Principal during my leave.

    Attendance

Attendance has been a focus for our school community for sometime now and will continue to be moving into the future. It is so important that students have consistent attendance to ensure they do not miss important learning opportunities.

It is worth celebrating that in recent times we have had two consecutive school days where we had a whole school attendance of 90 and 91%! Lets continue to work together to achieve continued attendance improvement which will ultimately lead to improved student achievement.

    BINGO

I hope that you have all seen the images we have placed on Facebook as part of our community engagement, visiting the nursing home. Each fortnight students walk to the nursing home and join the residence for BINGO. This is a wonderful way for us to engage in the wider community and make a difference to residence who may not get a lot of visitors. We have missed the opportunity for a period of time due to visiting restrictions, it is wonderful to get this initiative up and running again. Thank you to Mrs Verrall and Mr Howard who have been facilitating these visits.

    Tell Them From Me Survey

Thank you to those parents who were able to complete the Tell Them From Me survey, this has now closed. While we had only 7 parent surveys completed we look forward to reviewing this feedback in order to support reflection and future decision making as we continue to make our school the best learning environment possible. An early glance indicates that we have a lot to celebrate with some affirming comments from parents.

Our Year 4-6 students and staff have also completed a survey and we will look to unpack the feedback from these as part of this process.

    School Photos

A reminder that School Photos will be taken on Friday 14th June, don't forget to get your order envelopes in. We also ask that families ensure that all students are in their full school uniform.

    God Bless,

    Brendan Moloney

    Mission News

    Ordinary Time

We have now moved back into the liturgical season of Ordinary Time. Ordinary Time celebrates Jesus' teaching and ministry. It gives us time to reflect on how we live as Christians. We have thirty-three weeks to examine and 'order' our lives while we focus on a particular Gospel, in a three-year cycle, and to enter it deeply.

This Sunday is the tenth Sunday in Ordinary time of Year B. We hear this week from the Gospel of Mark. We focus on the miracles of Jesus teaching. This reading invites us to strengthen and affirm our belief in Jesus' mission.

    Proclaim Lismore Staff

As you know, last Wednesday the staff from St Joseph’s Coraki attended the Proclaim Lismore Staff gathering. The theme of this day is Hope or the Future. The aim of this day is for staff to be reinvigorated with prayer, purpose and passion towards our vocation. We heard from some wonderful speakers who shared their experience with living the Mission of Jesus Christ.

As a part of this gathering we were able to enjoy the music of Proclaim Lismore Wildfire, and we look forward to sharing this music with our students at the stage two mass in Week 7!

    Library News

Dinosaurs will be on display from next week and we have  Friends Day coming up so books about friendship will also be available.

We had a lovely walk to Bingo with some of the children and of course enjoyed the company of the residents as well. We are hoping to set up some form of friendship group with the retirement village in the near future if all goes well.

    Have a lovely week!

    Kinder News

    Hats off to Mr Moloney!

As part of their science topic Kinders have been learning about the seasons and weather. This week they were tasked with designing and making a sun hat for Mr Moloney. The hats had to prevent the sun burning Mr Moloney on his holiday.

Mr Moloney was very impressed by the creative thinking and problem solving displayed by our Early Stage One scientists.

    Kinder Visit St Joseph's Church

Kinder children have been learning about our parish family.  As part of our learning we visited St Joseph's Catholic Church to look at the special vessels used during Mass.  The children were very reverent and careful as they held the chalice, ciborium, cruets and crucifix.

    Where the wild things are

During our drama lesson today kinder children made crowns and acted as kings and queens.  They were quite the actors who became their royal characters, moving with poise and grace.
