20th June, Week 8, Term 2
From Our Principal - Mr Brendan Moloney
Dear Families,
Acting Principal Term 3
The recent appointment for my replacement during Term 3 has been announced.
On behalf of the Director of Catholic Schools, Mr Adam Spencer, and Fr Max Gow, Administrator of Coraki Parish, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Sam Irvine as Acting Principal at St Joseph’s Primary School, Coraki for the first eight weeks of Term 3. Sam is currently the Assistant Principal – Mission at St Mary’s Primary School, Casino, and brings a wealth of experience to the position.
This week Sam visited the school to familiarise himeself with us and to have the opportunity to be inducted in preparation for his role. During week 10 Sam will return to continue this process and will have some more time to visit classrooms and meet students and teachers.
I am sure you will all make Sam feel very welcome, I encourage you to take the opportunity to introduce yourselves when you get the chance.
Parent/Teacher Conferences and School Reports
Teachers have been working to prepare the Semester 1 Reports for each student. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to celebrate successes with their child and look at student goals moving forward. Reports will be available on COMPASS on Monday for families to view.
As part of our end of Semester processes we will also be holding Parent/Teacher Conferences during Week 10. All parents should take the opportunity to book a time to speak with their child’s teacher/s to gain feedback on their progress. Bookings are able to be made via COMPASS, if you are having difficulty making a booking please call the school office for assistance.
Lock Down Drill
This week we undertook a Lock Down Drill, this is part of our school processes to prepare for the unlikely event of needing to implement an actual Lock Down. A Lock Down may be implemented in a scenario where we have dangerous weather where students and staff will need to remain inside for safety, it may be that there is a an unknown person wondering outside, emergency authorities may request schools to go into lock down or a student may be trying to go into classrooms who is upset who we want to keep outside in order for them to calm. These events are unlikely but some do happen from time to time. The students and staff were excellent during our drill and did everything they were requested to do and are well prepared should we ever need to implement a lock down.
NAIDOC Events Tues 2nd and Wed 3rd
NAIDIC Week will take place during the upcoming school holidays. As part of our school acknowledment of this event we will be joining with Coraki Public School on Tuesday 2nd and the Coraki CWA Preschool on Wednesday. It is fantastic that we are able to come together to acknowledge such events as a community. We will have more information regarding these events soon. I encourage families to come along and join.
School Athletics Carnival Friday 28th
We will again join with St Joseph’s Alstonville for our Athletics Carnival, this will be held on Friday the 28th of June. Information regarding the event and details for lunch orders have been communicated via COMPASS. We ask that you complete the permissions and return orders for this day as soon as possible. We will be travelling to this event by bus and invite parents to join us for what is always a wonderful day.
God Bless,
Brendan Moloney
At the end of Term 1 we held our Colour Explosion Run. $1184.88 was raised for Care for a Cause.

12th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B
As we continue in Ordinary Time, our reading today is taken from the Gospel of Mark, the primary Gospel reading in Lectionary Cycle B. Mark's Gospel presents a vivid portrait of Jesus, whose words and deeds show that he is the Son of God. Today's Gospel describes the end of a day of teaching in Jesus' ministry. Jesus taught the crowd in parables and then offered explanations of these parables to his disciples. Jesus then led his disciples away from the crowds and into the boats that they will use to cross the Sea of Galilee. The sea and its surrounding area are the settings for Jesus' teachings and miracles in this part of Mark's Gospel. Today's reading describes how Jesus calmed a storm at sea. It is the first of four miracles that are presented in sequence at this point in Mark's Gospel.
Week 7 Whole School Mass
Congratulations to Stage 2 on the way they prepared for our whole school Mass in Week 7.
There were some parish members in attendance to the Mass and they provided some very positive feedback about the engagement of all students at the Mass.
Well done to all students for their engagement and reverence demonstrated at Mass, especially Stage 2 for their effort in preparing the Mass.
